Speaking as a marker, one of the most frustrating things is knowing that the student is not talking to a reader but is just getting things down on paper because they have to! As my PDF reader allows me to, I start off by adding bookmarks for each section. This has turned out to be harder than I thought it would. Also, because it tends to be a solitary activity I think you need to explicitly engage this type of thinking. I started to use abbreviations methodically when I realised how helpful they are when testing your recall during revision and for writing exam answer plans.
It was interesting to see how the questions broke down in terms of attempts and marks. This activity overlaps with the Feynman technique. Good to see old Kahneman and Tversky popping litearture. This is easily missed under the more formal conditions where you have to construct an argument litearture answer an essay question. A bit of an odd week this one, spread over two days because I had to prepare for the arrival of a house-guest and then run around panicking that the logistics that were thought to have been agreed for the Cotswold Way relay on Saturday hit a road bump.

This sounds like a lot of work but using the Zotero browser plugin you this only about 5 minutes per item.

A level up from my 2: I picked up this approach to writing experimental reports from a presentation at my residential school.
It maps extremely well onto the reading code approach presented in How to Read Journal Articles in the Social Sciences. Most interestingly to me was that in the third section, only 50 revjew attempted the middle question question 8 and in luterature second section, only 61 people attempted the last question question 6.
The role of phonology in visual word comprehension: Philosophical Transactions of literautre Royal Society: The chapter looking at language and thought was heavy on theories as to whether concepts necessary for learning language were innate or learned.

The topic this week was concepts, which disappointingly just ended up being theories as to how people litegature categories and place items within categories.
